VIVA LAS VEGAS! On Sunday March 25th I’ll be heading to America’s Playground for 5 days, for the annual WPPI convention and trade show!Monte was scheduled to give a presentation on Monday March 26th. I don’t know how many WPPI conventions there have been in the past, but I’m certain this will be the first in at least a decade that won’t feature Monte Zucker in some way. So it’s a bittersweet trip – Monte’s absence will be felt through the week.

But the good news is, photographers from around the world will descend upon Vegas to learn, grow, and network (and eat and drink and laugh and party). The trade show is a huge attraction, 250+ vendors will be exhibiting with new albums, new gear, software, and other things we probably can’t live without. I will be seeing some of my closest friends, sharing a beer or three, and looking at new album options. I’m so excited!

I think my hotel has wireless access, so I’m hoping I’ll have email access while I’m there – but I think cell service is pretty spotty, so if you need me drop me an email! I’ll be back in town and on the job on Friday the 30th.

The photographic industry lost a legend last night. Mentor to all, Monte is the reason I am where I am today. The friends I’ve made, the colleagues I’ve learned from, the steps I’ve taken in my business are all traceable back to something Monte said, or did, or some vessel he provided so that I may learn and grow.

Another photographer, David Williams, said so succinctly: “But what happens now, Monte? You were everywhere.”

I could not have said it better. Monte is everywhere. Now it is up to us.

Goodnight, Monte. We will miss you always.

I can’t tell you how flattered I am to have been featured in PPA Magazine’s annual Weddings issue. This is an incredible honor, and I still can’t really believe I was invited!

Wow, have I slacked off over the winter months!

OK, here is my promise to you: over the next two weeks I will get completely caught up on blogging. New images, new album options, NEWS, etc.

Why have I been such a slacker? Well, here’s the real dirty truth. I was trying to convert this blog to a wordpress blog. And I spent three months (off and on) trying to format the wordpress blog to look and act right for my needs. I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to that stuff, that I was driving myself insane. Plus, I can’t get the import function to work to pull my entries from this blog into the new one. It’s just been a nightmare. I fully intend to launch a new and AWESOME blog soon, but it looks like I’m gonna have to cry “UNCLE” and hire someone to do it, because I clearly am not as geeky as I thought. :(
