Courtney and Josh. OK, first thing you need to know about these two is that they let me talk them into going to the carnival for their engagement session. We started at the beach, got soaked by the waves on probably the coldest November day EVER, and then ran off to the carnival like kids. It was tons of fun, but I couldn’t feel my feet the whole time. Can you say “hypothermia?” I knew you could.
Fast forward to the wedding day. We had a blast. We started at the Holiday Inn Sunspree for the getting ready. This is always a great hotel for the pre-wedding festivities – every room I’ve ever shot in has an ocean view, and the rooms are light and roomy. Anyway, can I just tell you – Courtney and her family are my kinda people. Her mom? What an incredible woman. Witty, sarcastic, and brash… and gorgeous to boot. Everyone in the room was cracking jokes, making my job of catching happy families sooo much easier than when everyone’s serious or nervous. So we had a great time.
The service was at the Temple of Israel in downtown Wilmington, the oldest Jewish house of worship in the state of North Carolina. It was my first time shooting there, and I’m so glad I finally got the opportunity – it’s beautiful, a pleasure to photograph in, and the people were beyond friendly. We did about a thousand formal group shots before the service, in some kind of crazy record time. All laughs and smiles, the way it oughtta be. I really can’t say enough for the families in this wedding.
On to Bluewater Grill for the reception! Great food, lots and lots of dancing, a terrifically energetic hora… and a lot of joyful tears.
The wedding was expertly coordinated by the fantastic team at A Carolina Wedding, and the entertainment was provided by DJ America, who always does a wonderful job of keeping the party hopping and not sounding like a cheeseball.

Congratulations, Courtney and Josh!

Ok. these are really great and all, but where’s the one with you all wet and cold?
but really, stunning images.
Charo, I can rarely make it through an entire slide show – I bore easily. But, this one kept me interested enough that I was sad to see it end. Great job. And the guest book was terrific.
