When Cathie first contacted me about her wedding, she was based in Iraq, and Rob was based stateside after having served in Iraq not long before. Until Cathie made it back to the states a month before her wedding, I was worried about her every single day. I’ve been so lucky in that I don’t have anyone, personally, who is stationed overseas, in the middle of a war. Having Cathie out there, in a weird way, helped me understand a little better the helplessness of caring for someone who is so far away, in a situation that you have no control over. It’s pretty intense. To say the least.
